人不可無恥,無恥之人,如病封喉,雖有神丹,亦難入腹,難救重疴之疾。

 孟子日:「人不可以無恥,無恥之恥,無恥矣。人非聖賢孰能無過,過而不知恥,大患也。」不知羞恥的人做事不能守住道德的底線,久而積習,如久病而入膏育,怎奈因陋習封住喉嚨,縱是有神丹妙藥也不能真正入腹。倘能知恥而後勇,則癒大病、遠災禍。

  A man must not be shameless. A shameless man is like having a throat-closing disease and, even if there exists an elixir, it is difficult for him to swallow the elixir to cure the said serious disease.
