一個有德性的人，是以打從心底的真實、誠信的態度與人相處。在身心修養的過程，遇到困蹇不順，也不會怨天尤人，而是保持寬厚心胸、柔軟身段、謙和待人。碰到不合理的對待，仍是擇善固執，不輕易放棄堅持的中庸之道，也不會任人擺布，而是「以德報德，以直報怨」，執其兩端而用其中於待人處世。
